Jeff Dearing, from Dracut, Massachusetts, has built a career shaping the user experience of e-commerce platforms, most notably through his work at Demandware. Beginning in 2007 as Lead Product Designer, he played a pivotal role in developing commerce business applications, including Site Genesis, the Customer Service Center, and Endless Aisle for in-store shopping. His expertise in storyboarding, wireframing, and prototyping helped create intuitive digital experiences. Collaborating closely with developers and stakeholders, he ensured that designs were both functional and user-friendly, conducting user testing and troubleshooting throughout the development lifecycle.

As Demandware expanded, Jeff transitioned into a Senior User Experience & Product Designer role, focusing on onboarding new brands to the platform. Working with external designers, agencies, developers, and business teams, he guided them through the design process and requirements gathering. His ability to balance design vision with business needs ensured that UX solutions aligned with project budgets and timelines. To support development and testing, he documented detailed UX and UI specifications, maintaining consistency across implementations.

By 2014, Demandware’s rapid growth led Jeff into a Senior UX Design & CX Strategist role, where he focused on helping brands optimize their digital storefronts. He conducted shopper journey reviews, identified growth opportunities through benchmarking, and analyzed emerging trends in the e-commerce industry. He also launched a benchmarking program leveraging heat map studies, providing brands with data-driven insights to enhance customer engagement. In addition to client work, he served as a UX subject matter expert for Retail Practice, Customer Success, Client Services, Engineering, and Sales, driving end-to-end solution design and functionality across teams.

As the company continued to scale, Jeff moved into Client Services, where he specialized in supporting brands during their onboarding process. He led the development of high-fidelity prototypes, refined UX designs, and tailored customizations to meet diverse business needs. Overseeing the launch of more than 200 e-commerce sites, he played a key role in streamlining implementation processes, reducing development time by 23%. His ability to merge design expertise with strategic thinking helped brands maximize their success on the Demandware platform, solidifying his reputation as a leader in e-commerce user experience.
